Hello, the dentist applied medication to my tooth and told me to return in a week to remove it and place a filling. The tooth was sensitive to cold, but the two adjacent teeth have also become sensitive since they placed the medication. Now I can’t tell if the pain is coming from the tooth or the gums. Is it possible that the medication is causing pain in the surrounding teeth until it’s removed?

Swelling after tooth treatment
Hello, about seven years ago, my dentist treated a nerve in my tooth but only sealed it up without removing the nerve. After a few years, I started experiencing pain, swelling, and pus, which would come and go on its own. I haven’t had any issues with swelling or pus for about a year now—it just stopped on its own. Is there any reason to worry? Could there still be a chance of complications even if I haven’t had problems with this tooth for a year?

Prominent bone

I noticed more than six months ago that I have what seems to be a prominent bone, or at least I think it is, in my upper jaw, right next to my 7th tooth, but more towards the center of the palate. I have the same on the other side, but it’s barely noticeable. This is very hard to the touch and can also be felt with the tongue, but it doesn’t hurt. I asked my dentist, and they said it’s probably where my jaw ends (they mentioned some technical Latin term, but I didn’t remember it). I’m curious about your opinion.
Pain with the new bridge
I am experiencing severe pain, and even medication no longer helps. I had a metal-ceramic bridge done on teeth 4, 5, 6, and 7. The teeth were huge, giving me an unnatural bite. The dentist shortened my teeth, but my bite still feels strange and painful. My upper and lower fourth teeth are still hitting each other, and now I feel pain when I bite or eat anything, with a pulsating sensation. I also feel a slight tingling in my teeth. Is this due to the shortening? I don’t want my teeth filed down if the crowns are not properly aligned with my teeth.

The pain is not caused by the impression but by the drilling process. It is normal for the teeth to hurt when exposed to hot and cold. They shouldn’t hurt on their own.
If a tooth hurts constantly, you should inform your dentist about it.
Pain after root canal
Hi, a previously treated tooth (the nerve was removed) has suddenly started hurting. Visibly, there is decay around the filling, and one side of the tooth has darkened. I also have periodontitis, and the pockets around the tooth are deep. The pain is intense, and it subsides when I take ibuprofen. Additionally, I have bad breath, and the tooth hurts a lot when touched. I’m currently abroad and can’t afford to see a dentist, so I’m wondering if I can take the antibiotic I brought with me in case of pain, or if it’s necessary to take antibiotics in this situation. Antibiotics should only be taken if there is swelling around the tooth. If there is no swelling and only pain, you can continue with ibuprofen as needed.

The dentist also said it shouldn’t hurt this much, but every morning and evening, my heart is pounding in my mouth.

If your symptoms aren’t improving, meaning the pain isn’t decreasing daily, it could indicate nerve damage in one or more teeth.
