What is a dental post?
The crown of a tooth can be damaged due to decay or fracture. If the damage is extensive and only a small part or even just the root of the tooth remains, the tooth needs to be rebuilt. For this purpose, we use dental posts.
Types of Tooth Reconstruction with a Post
The post for tooth reconstruction can be metal or fiberglass. The type of post used depends on how much of the tooth is left and what material will be used for further tooth reconstruction.
What all dental posts have in common is that the tooth into which the post is placed must be devitalized (root canal procedure), and after the post is placed, the tooth must be fully reconstructed with a crown or a bridge.

Advantages of Tooth Reconstruction with a Post
When a tooth is severely damaged, any material used for reconstruction may not last long due to insufficient retention. By placing a post in the root of the tooth and creating a buildup, we provide proper retention, which in turn ensures durability.
Cost of Tooth Reconstruction with a Post
The cost of tooth reconstruction depends on the type of post and material used. There are prefabricated posts, as well as custom-made posts individually designed for each tooth in dental labs. All these factors together determine the price of the post and the reconstruction.
